俺のdAアカウントはこんなに静かに訳がない!

It's been a good few months since my last update, and there have been a few changes since MomoCon:
I moved to Indianapolis for personal reasons. There are a few priorities that I must tend to, but the photography will continue. I'll be even less active, since I am away from the people I shoot with most.  It'll mostly convention shoots now, which I have reduced by a whole lot. Florida conventions are unfortunately out of my reach, but MetroCon 2015 is something that I really want to shoot for at the very least. Georgia conventions (MomoCon and Anime Weekend Atlanta) are still within my range, so no worries there. I have lots to look forward to there. I'll probably start hitting up a couple of Midwest conventions next year, if my schedule allows (but, quite frankly, they're not all that high up in my list of priorities).

Other than that, I just finished uploading pictures from my last most recent shoot with playingsonrepeat in her Madoka cosplay, so definitely check those out!

As always thanks for your follows, faves, and comments! I really do appreciate all the support from you guys.
If you like, I also have a Facebook page you can follow me at: Facebook Lee A.M. Photography
I've been following MomoCon since about 2007 back when it was a small, free Georgia Tech event (way before I started attending conventions). I discovered it through Facebook ads because, hey, ads are supposed to cater to your general interests, right? But anyway, I've watched it grow over the years to what it is now.  Even through I've only attended the past two years, I can understand the sentiments when MomoCon veterans reference the Georgia Tech days. Because of this, MomoCon is one of those cons that I will always hold dear to me, and will make every effort to attend, or have at least some involvement in its growth and success.

With that out of the way, I can say that this was a very relaxed event, and it was a joy seeing everyone up in Atlanta, meeting and networking with new people, and eating at some wonderful local spots.  I also ran my first, though unofficial, Half-Marathon at Chastain Park in 02:00:42 Sunday morning.  These places all picked out or suggested by the wonderful Atlanta-area tour guide and cosplayer, Setua.

MomoCon photoshoots were scarce, but the time I spent with friends more than made up for it. Additional shoutouts to Switt-Blackcat, Sonicvortex99, xinstrumental, and elysiagriffin for being the awesome people that you are!  Also, to MarmaladeHearts and peachibear -- wish you could have made it.  The experience wasn't quite the same without you.

Now comes the process of brining you the photos from my MomoCon shoots.  I've already got the Kyoukai no Kanata shoot uploaded, and you may notice that my watermarks have changed.  From here on out, I'll be using my personal signature/initials on my watermark as I am slowly phasing out the ørz_Phtgrphy name.

As for future conventions, I am sad to announce that I am officially dropping Otakon from my cons this year.  It is just way too expensive for me to handle (and the weather too hot).  It's astounding that I was able to do it two years in a row.  I'll definitely miss the Northeast crew this year, but I hope to see you guys again in the future.  To make up for dropping Otakon, I am picking up Anime Weekend Atlanta -- so definitely look out for me there.

Also, don't forget that I have a booth next weekend for Knightrokon at UCF! Plain backdrop shoots are $10 and 50% proceeds go directly back to Knightrokon  (they set the terms for this, and if I had my way, I wouldn't be charging -- trying to work with them for pricing).

That's all I have for now! Don't forget to follow my page on Facebook!

Facebook Follow me on Facebook!
So, I just let my dA Premium subscription expire. It looked nice, and I didn't have to deal with ads all the time, but with how little I used dA as of late, I can't justify going Premium for another year.  I'm also in the slow process of rebuilding my website that was killed by Squarespace a few months ago.  Hopefully I can find a set up that matches what I'm looking for, and is easy for you guys as well.  I do a good job of keeping my Facebook and flickr up-to-date, but I really should have a "centralised location" for all of my work.

But enough about that! Let's talk about cons! MomoCon is happening next weekend (May 23-25) in Downtown Atlanta, GA, and I will be there for cosplay photoshoots **FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ONLY**! This is my schedule of openings so far:

Friday
1000 - OPEN
1300 - Taken
1500 - OPEN
1700 - Taken

Saturday
0900 - OPEN
1100 - Taken
1400 - OPEN
1700 - OPEN

As always, my shoots go for about an hour and are $25 for each shoot for up to 3 people ($5 per each additional person). Payment can be made on-location or in advance via PayPal. I try and keep things fun and interesting to keep the shoots chill to keep the stress levels down. I do, however ask that you have some poses ready for your character and make sure that the cosplay itself is ready for the shoot. The less I have to touch up, the faster I can get the photos back to you (and the better your photos will look overall).

Following the convention, I will begin uploading pictures here, onto my Facebook page, and flickr. Earlier shoots will take priority, and are uploaded as they are completed. Please be aware that due to the volume of shoots (and my personal schedule), your pictures may take up to one month to be posted. Don't hesitate to bug me about them, though :P  I usually aim to get 5-7 great pictures from the shoot, as I'm all about quality over quantity.

Cancellation Policy
We all know that not everything goes as planned, and sometimes you have to modify your schedule at a con. If you must cancel a scheduled shoot with me, please give at least 24 hours advance notice so that I can open up your slot for others who are want to shoot with me. If you pre-paid your slot, you will be refunded the full amount. "Late cancellations" and "no call/no shows" will get last dibs on future shoots.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

***KNIGHTROKON ATTENDEES: I will be doing 15-minute photobooth sessions for $10 each! 50% of the proceeds go to Knightrokon!!

Oh, man. Have I not updated here in months, or what!

MegaCon just came to a close, in what must have been it's largest (and most disorganized) turnout in history!

Pictures from that will be up on my Facebook soon, and will be put here eventually. I still need to start getting the Photoplex winter shoots uploaded here, but if you already follow my Facebook and/or Flickr -- you're already ahead!

Until next time!
Next convention: MomoCon 2014
So, I've been relatively inactive since Otakon. My full-time job has been keeping me busy, and I've been trying to at least maintain a regular social life. My camera grows lonely, however, and that is why I have a few announcements to make.

Holiday Matsuri 2013 / Kissimmee, FL - December 13-15
  • Cosplay Photography: Getting the Picture - Cosplay Photography Panel - Panel Room B
On Saturday, December 14 at 2:00pm, join me, along with xinstrumental , TigerShot Photography, Papanottzi, and Francisco Nazario Photography as we present to you the ins and outs of cosplay photography.  We'll go into the basics of lighting, posing, composition, and exposure -- just enough to get you started in your own cosplay photography endeavors! This panel is great for both photographers and cosplayers alike! We'll also be showing you the do's and don'ts, and apply a light brush tool on post-processing.

Panel intended for beginner to intermediate-level photographers and cosplayers of all levels of skill. (I consider myself "intermediate" so I better see that panel room full!
  • ★☆Cosplay Photoshoots!☆★
Yes! I am indeed accepting requests for bookings for cosplay photoshoots on all three days (schedule pending). Shoots are $25 for up to one hour and covers up to a group of three. Additional cosplayers are an extra $5 each.  I use a mix of natural lighting and off-camera flash in my photos, so nighttime shoots are a go.  Please be aware that I generally do not shoot outdoors after sunset unless the nighttime environment (a.k.a. pitch-black sky) goes well with your character.  Also, It would be a good idea to have a decent grasp of the character you are cosplaying and have poses ready.  Holiday-themed characters are welcome!

    Friday - Available between 4pm-7pm
Saturday - Open availabilty from 9am-7pm (Not available between 1pm and 3:30pm)
    Sunday - Open availability from 9am - 5pm

Contact me directly at orz@orzphtgrphy.com.  Do NOT send requests for bookings via dA notes, please!
  • Pro-Tog, Cheap Camera Challenge
So I came up with this fun idea. What would it be like if us cosplay photographers ditched all of our pro-gear and shot with a cheap camera?
Myself and several photographers will do ONE shoot using a DISPOSABLE FILM CAMERA along with any lights/modifiers at our disposal.  No fancy lenses, no calculated exposures, no special functions (aside from the winding the film each time we take a picture). This challenge will bring out the best (and the worst!) in our photography, and is purely for fun! We're also getting one of our videographers to cover our shoots "DigitalRev-style", so we'll be wired up to lapel mics, and have video of our amazing derpiness!

I am not accepting any requests for this photoshoot.  I plan on picking out a random cosplayer from the crowds for my Pro-Tog, Cheap Camera shoot on Saturday.
This challenge is on-going during all three days of Holiday Matsuri.
Winter Photoshoot! / Alpharetta, GA - December 19
  • So I'm making yet another journey up to the Atlanta area -- the weekend after Holiday Matsuri -- to participate in a studio shoot with a group of GA photographers! I've never worked in a studio environment before, so I'm going to be absolutely clueless with lighting LOL.  And I'm probably going to be broke when this is all over ;_;. But I shall consider this my Christmas present for the year!  And, that very same weekend, I intend on doing my first senior photoshoot session with PoorAestheticSouls.  I am hoping to make this shoot turn out beautifully when I'm all through with it! And Switt-Blackcat, too! We're also planning a potential shoot while I'm up there! Ahhh! This will be a great weekend!

December is going to be a busy month! I look forward to shooting with you all! :D
I'm finally caught up with pictures and have some downtime to make a post-Otakon entry!

This year's Otakon was my most memorable convention to-date! I had no clue so many friends came up from Florida to attend this convention -- I was excited to see everyone up there! I ran into a whole bunch of old friends on Day Zero: RJ (RJTH), Gaspar, Deanna (Dejavudea), Dave -- It was great to see all of you again!

Friday morning was a little rough and uncoordinated due to circumstances beyond my control, but I was going to make the most of the situation, and I offered to help Dave with his photography by being his model and coaching him through the process.  I got some good pictures of my (kind of) Homura genderbend cosplay in the end, and he gained some valuable knowledge in the process.  I look forward to seeing him grow as a cosplay photographer!

The rest of Friday was dedicated to shoots. I finally got to shoot aboard the USS Constellation (which you should visit at least once, because it's so cool!). The fee for admission was $11 per person, and they really didn't mind the extra camera equipment LOL.  After a quick lunch during a rainstorm at Noodles and Company, I joined some friends from Atlanta for my second shoot of the day.  Lots of derp there!  My last shoot was with an adorable Miku cosplayer, who I happened to get a hallway shot of back at NYCC 2011 -- and we wandered way over to Federal Hill (another place I wanted to shoot at) to capture the city lights and harbor in the background :D  I ended my night with the Cosplay Photographers gathering and the Dejavudea Kigu Party, with some California Tortilla to go.

Four hours of sleep! Woke up early Saturday morning for the epic Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2 Group Photoshoot! Fifteen people all-in-all! I've never shot with a group so big.  I have my friend Taisa to thank for keeping half of the group occupied while I work with the other half. The shoot was a huge success, and the pictures are coming out pretty nicely!
Afterwards, I met up with one of the Canadian photographers to go on a Jimmy John's run, and talked equipment, because he sure had a whole bunch on him! And his photographer getup is craaazy! He said every article that he had on him was a solution to a problem he had in the past.  Dead batteries for his flash? He made a belt to wear across his chest that looked like it was supposed to house shotgun shells, but was made for AA-size rechargeable batteries! After wrapping up my early-afternoon shoot, I wandered about the convention, ran into the Canadian photographer again, shot the Final Fantasy gathering, and waited for shoots that ended up not happening :/  I ended up wandering to the Dansu to Pantsu Dance Gathering, taking video and getting some good shots.

I later learned about the midnight Persona Cosplay Gathering, and I wanted to make it up to some friends for outright refusing their shoot because of a time crunch.  I did a little impromptu photoshoot on the house for them. No editing, no watermarking -- just me, my camera, and them.

Saturday was long and tiring for me and my memory cards.  Before I called it a night, I met with Gaspar again to do some file transfers because I had to do a small memory dump onto his laptop. Then off to the elevator I went-- and a familiar voice spoke to me... and I looked around to see no one I knew.  Until someone in a rave outfit pulled off her mask, and said, "Hi." Deanna, you elevator troll.

Sunday! My 7am shoot never happened! I ended up waking up at 9:45, and I frantically texted my client to apologize. It turned out that they overslept as well, so there were no hard feelings xD.  After some getting my stuff out of the hotel room, getting some free Starbucks, and a quick meet with my Atlanta friends again, I just chilled for the rest of the convention.

Here's a little something I concocted to sum up my experience: OTAKON 2013 FAN VIDEO [NEXT-NEXT-NEXT-NEXT DAY EDIT LOLOL]

And with that, my 2013 Convention Season comes to a close.  I may show at a couple of small local Florida conventions, but I won't be active very much.  I'll be focusing more on real-life stuff now that school is in session for most everyone.  I've already put up a preliminary 2014 schedule, and I hope most of that goes through.  In the meantime, keep a lookout for the Otakon pics, keep up the cosplay, and keep up the support!  Thanks for everything!
  • Watching: Free!
You can countdown to Otakon in HOURS now! The main event of the summer is almost here! I can't wait to reunite with everyone and shoot with you guys!

MetroCon edits continue to be sluggish. I finally got through my Friday shoots without throwing my laptop across the room. These 18-megapixel images are going to be the death of this machine!  Don't worry, though! Know that I'm doing my best to get these MetroCon shoots out as quickly as possible, but with me leaving for Baltimore in two days, things may hit a stand-still for a little bit.

Metro shoots aside, I had an awesome time with everyone! Dani, Kat, Toby, James -- the creepy bearded ginger made things all the more interesting... I actually had the best sleep I've had in weeks (not insinuating anything at all, Kat), and ate more food that weekend than I would have on a normal week LOL. I managed to put together a little MetroCon "shenanigans" video. No special cosplay features, or anything; just documenting my time at MetroCon.

Now, fast-forwarding to the present: OTAKON!

Here's my final shoot/meetup schedule! I am not accepting any more bookings for this convention.

(Since my last journal just disappeared into thin air.... just posting an update for my Tampa shoots.)

As we get down to the wire with MetroCon just around the corner, I'd like to touch base with everyone I've booked so far: How's the cosplay progress? Where would you like to meet for the shoot / Got any specific locations or shots in mind?  I'll be sending out those e-mails and private messages as soon as I can Monday evening.  Everyone who has booked with me should have my contact information, so I don't imagine there being any serious issues with communication, despite the hectic rush.

I still have a couple of spots available for Saturday -- As a reminder, shoots are $25 for up to three people, and go for up to an hour.  Model release forms can be completed on-location electronically or by a printed and signed form that can be downloaded on my website www.orzphtgrphy.com (link on bottom).

Again, my MetroCon 2013 photo shoot schedule is as follows:

Friday (FULL!):
0900-1000: Ciel Phantomhive (Black Butler)
1200-1300: Kazuichi Souda (Super Dangan Ronpa II)
1800-1900: Ren/Rin Kagamine (Vocaloid 2)
Saturday:
0800-1000: Not Available (Private Booking)

1600-1700: Not Available (Final Fantasy Meetup)
Sunday (FULL!):
1100-1200: Ittoki and Tokiya (Uta no Prince-sama)
1200-1300: Handmaid and Disciple (Homestuck)
1700-1800: Hazama (Blazblue)

Looking forward to seeing you all in Tampa this weekend!

(Don't worry Otakon... you are FAR AWAY from being forgotten!)
  • Watching: Attack on Titan
  • Playing: League of Legends
So I kicked off the 2013 convention season with MomoCon and MegaCon, and ever since then I've been waiting for my next convention.  I was debating on attending SeishunCon in Atlanta, GA, but when I found out that Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy is playing earlier that month, my priorities shifted LOL.

That makes MetroCon my next convention, so while I have this huge gap in between conventions, I'm working on a camera upgrade (as well as other surprises) in the meantime.  I've sold off almost all of my Nikon gear and will be moving to a Canon system in the coming weeks. I'm also planning on moving away from the ørz_Phtgrphy name to something I can use for a more "professional setting"...what ever that means.  So even though it seems like there's not much going on, it is very much the opposite!

=====

And while there isn't too much to share right now, I figured I should do a Feature Journal.  It's been a while since I last did this, so let me give you a little refresher on the rules:

1. For each of the first ten people to comment on this journal, I will put their avatar and the three deviations I like most from their gallery on the list! If you would like to suggest your own deviations, feel free to do so.

2. If you answer, you have to do the same in your journal, putting the tagger on the first place. The idea of this is not simply getting a free feature, but spreading art around for everyone!

3. You must be watching my page!

Phew! March was quite the busy month for me! I had MomoCon and MegaCon back-to-back, with plenty of shoots booked!  I pretty much have all of the MomoCon pictures uploaded on my Facebook page, Flickr account, and deviantArt, and I'm in the process of getting the MegaCon pictures up.

I now have all of the photos MegaCon shoots up on Facebook, dA, and Flickr!  As for the ørz_Phtgrphy website, I'm still trying to decide between finding a good way to share all my pictures, or just leaving it as a specialized portfolio to show off my best and favourites. I may leave it as a convention blog/photography portfolio for the time being until I figure out what I really want to do with it.

By the way, if you haven't read my Post-Con Report of MomoCon 2013, you can get to it here.

My next scheduled convention isn't until June, so expect to see some downtime from me.  I'll have a few private shoots with friends here and there in the meantime, but things are going to slow down a little bit.
  • Watching: MegaCon Vlogs!
  • Playing: Ni no Kuni
  • Eating: Pie

Now accepting shoot requests for BOTH MomoCon (March 8-10, 2013) and MegaCon (March 15-17, 2013)!
Total of 12 spaces each! Four on each day -- I'm currently working on what times I have available because, this time, I have to work around certain events.

I am requiring photo releases for my shoots, both in-state and out-of-state conventions. They can be completed on-location electronically, or you can download and print the forms online and bring them to the shoot.  However, if you are a minor (under the age of 18), you must complete the paper form.

They can be found on my *NEW WEBSITE*ørzPhtgrphy.com!

I'd just like to wish everyone a happy 2013 -- I hope this year will be as good as, if not better than, last year.  Personally, 2012 was very chatotic for me, and it started when I rang in 2012 by making a last-minute decision to drive from Chattanooga, TN to Atlanta, GA just to see the peach drop (then fight Downtown Atlanta traffic to get back to Chattanooga).  That stressful and chaotic start really ended up setting the mood for the rest of the year for me.

As far as friendships go, I couldn't be anymore blessed.  I've met some really great people through all of the conventions I've attended. And a few of us are a pretty tight-knit group -- something I mostly missed out on through my college years. For this reason, I would say that 2012 was prosperous year for me (even though omg college loan repayments! lol).  I've made a New Year's Resolution -- well more like a New Year's Promise -- to keep them close and not let them go.

I've seen my photography improve over the past year, too. I'm still learning new things and developing my own style, but as far as lighting and composition go, I really think I'm getting the hang of it, although there may have been some slip-ups along the way.

I'd just like to say that I'll be reducing my convention activities to probably half of what it was in 2012 for financial reasons.  I applied to the Japan Exchange & Teaching Programme (JET), and need to have funds set aside for potential travel, in addition to making sure I still make my student loan payments.  As a result, you will likely see a bunch more private non-convention cosplay shoots, much like the Black Butler and Final Fantasy XIII shoots I had near the end of 2012.

So again, Happy New Year to you all! I wish everyone the best!

ShadoCon 2012 - Tampa, FL
November 16 - 18

Truth be told, this con completely snuck on me because I was just so occupied with everything else.  Applications for the JET Program, work, anime backlogs, J-drama, and other random shenanigans kept me from even becoming excited for ShadoCon.

ShadoCon 2012 was held in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Tampa, FL.  Upon my late arrival, I was greeted with a fairly cramped convention space. Hardly any walking space in the main hotel lobby, narrow escalators, narrow stairs, and elevators that seem to never arrive. Most of the convention consisted of a single hallway on the second floor that lead to a couple of panel rooms, Artists Domain, and the Dealer Room. The Gaming Room was located on the first floor, and Video Room was out of the way from the crowds on the second floor.  Indoors, ShadoCon was "CrampedCon" for me.  Outdoors, however, provided lots of walking and shooting space with a city plaza located right behind the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

As far as convention material goes, there was a little something for everyone.  From gaming, to AMVs, to the nightly raves/dances, there was no table left unflipped when it came to catering to con-goers.
For me, personally, Friday was a huge bore for me. Now, granted, I'm not the usual con-goer, as I attend mostly for cosplay photography, but there really wasn't anything interesting to me, in terms of material.  I spent most of the day hanging around with friends and wandering the convention until the Egoraptor and Doug Walker panel started around 9pm, and stayed there until after Uncle Yo's performance.  If anything made my Friday more interesting, it was these two panels back-to-back.  Finally, some entertainment for Day 1!

Day 2 was equally slow, for the most part.  My first shoot canceled on me, so I ended up sleeping in until 10:00 or so.  I had my shoot with blackflame16 and ZombieXxcandy, who made wonderful waitress cosplays from Panty & Stocking. I got a few good photos in, and got some extras to release off-the-record for fun. Afterwards, I made my way to the dealers room and the artist alley to browse for a couple of items to give to some friends who couldn't make it to the con.  I ended up hanging around and chatting, since my third scheduled shoot ended up canceling, too.  Eventually, I decided to just go to the hotel room, relax for a bit, and watch the con from the hotel window.  This is where one of my roommates and I noticed that the room across from us had their window open. After derping around for at least 15 minutes trying to communicate with them across the hotel behind our closed windows, they came to us.  It turns out that they were cast members staying in the Presidential Suite, and they personally invited us to their Cast Party later that night, which started to get out of hand, and I ended up leaving early, haha.  I ended the night with a late-night run to Taco Bus, learning that the con was officially running 2 hours behind schedule, and dumping memory cards with Wreck-It Ralph music playing in the background.

I have nothing too special to say about Sunday, except I wanted to grab some general con shots before the day ended.

I left a bunch out, but all in all, ShadoCon was a mediocre con for me.  I really wasn't feeling it -- neither before, nor during.  The venue was too small for this event, some of the staff were rude, and the programming/scheduling should have been coordinated better with the hotel (apparently spaces were double-booked, causing substantial delays).  Did I enjoy myself? I'd say so.  Would I come to ShadoCon a second time? Probably not, unless I have a good crowd to hang out with.

Next up is Holiday Matsuri (December 14-16), and that will wrap up my 2012 convention year!

Just posting a small update to keep things lively here--

About two weeks ago I had a Final Fantasy XIII cosplay shoot at New Symerna Beach.  We had Lightning, Serah, Hope, Vanille, and a possible Fang that was supposed to participate, but unfortunately, things fell through, and I could only get Lightning and Serah out that Friday morning. playingsonrepeat and Euruka, you two are the best! :D  We're gonna try and make this happen again some time in the future with everyone!

Some of those pictures turned out a lot better than I expected, and Focus and I Missed You are receiving so much attention! Thanks for your favorites and comments! I'm still going through the set to see what else I want to release.

As for AWA pictures, I think I'm pretty much done uploading pictures from that convention (I'm very much a quality-over-quantity person), but I've been known to throw in a few surprises like AWA 2012: Servant of God for Switt-Blackcat.  And I don't know what to do yet with all those pics from the Guilty Crown shoot, MarmaladeHearts xD

Only two more conventions remaining this year for me: ShadoCon and Holiday Matsuri.  Yes, I will be attending both, and I will be taking requests for shoots at ShadoCon starting next week, so keep an eye out for that post!

Okay, seriously, this is the most fun I've had at a con all year, and knocks Otakon off the top spot for 2012! I know... crazy. But the saying goes true: the people you spend time with can either make or break a con.

I carpooled with a small group of friends Thursday morning to make the 8-hour drive up to Atlanta from Orlando. It was largely uneventful and cramped, but it was an adventure (and adventures are always fun)!  We arrived at the Waverly around 7:30, and we all split up to go to our hotel rooms, because we were all staying with different people xD and then proceeded to wait in line for our press badges.  Come to think of it, I think that is the ONLY complaint I have about AWA:  Thursday night badge pickup.  They merged all groups and media together in a single line, had two regular pre-registration lines, and a line for cash/credit.  I had to ask myself why there would be a line for cash/credit purchases.  Thursday night badge pickup should be reserved for those who actually pre-registered for the convention, media, vendors, groups, etc.  Picking up my badge took much longer than it should have because, in my mind, the cash/credit line should have not been there in the first place.  There should have been two lines each for group passes and normal pre-registration.

All that aside, I wandered out to explore the Cobb Galleria Centre and the adjacent Galleria Gardens with my friend Taisa of Shinboku Studios.  It was both our first time at AWA, so when we saw the big fountains by the clock tower we got very excited.  And when we reached the far end of the Gardens we had a simultaneous photographer orgasm that was epic in its own right LOL.  If the location looked that good in the dark at 10:00pm, imagine what it would be like when we could actually see things!  I ended the night early on that note.

On Friday, I started up doing some more scouting. My 11am shoot never showed or contacted me, so I found myself walking around the Dealers Hall prior to opening getting some setting shots.
The highlight of the day, and perhaps the entire con, was the shoot I had prearranged with :iconpeachibear: peachibear and her friend :iconmarmaladehearts: MarmaladeHearts in their cosplays from the series Otome Youkai Zakuro, unfortunately we got rained out, and later attempts to reschedule that shoot fell through.  Despite the mishaps, I had a very positive experience spending some time with them (not too sure about peachibear lol j/k) and would definitely shoot with them in the future.

Saturday, I had better luck with shoots. Three kept their appointments, and one canceled 15 minutes prior (thank goodness I checked my messages before literally sprinting from the Galleria Gardens to the skybridge). The cancellation allowed me to get some shots of cosplayers from Legend of Korra, Angel Beats!, and a Puella Magi Madoka Magica gathering.

I also had some time to get some shots of the Yuu Kikkawa concert.  Near the end, she wanted to get a pic with everyone in the audience, then she noticed me with my camera and shouted "CAMERAMAN-SAN! KOCCHI NI KIITE!"  At this point I'm thinking, "What? Really? FFF YES! I GET TO GO ON STAGE WITH KIKKA!" But some dude from backstage whipped out his iPhone and got the group shot >_>

You'll see the shoot I had with :icondr-robofox: DR-ROBOFOX in her Simca cosplay from Air Gear and a later shoot I had from Homestuck. Unfortunately, the pics from my morning shoot didn't meet my personal standards and expectations, so I won't be publicly releasing those.  Homestuck shoot was followed by some derping, exploring, and hanging out with the DB crew (#subjectlineAnime).

Sunday, I had an early morning complimentary shoot with MarmaladeHearts and her friend as Dark Inori and Light Inori from Guilty Crown.  It was very laid-back, with 70% derp, some experimenting, and no direction.  I'll be releasing those pictures directly to them for editing (the VERY rare occasion that I'll let someone else do the edits), and you'll see those pictures one of our dA accounts in the future.  Directly following that shoot, I had to get everything packed up, since my hotelmates decided to check out an hour earlier than planned. As a result, I had to coordinate with my carpool group to get their things packed and thrown into the car before we continued our day.  The rest of Sunday was filled with IDOLMster, Frill, shopping in the Dealers Hall (bought Battle Royale on Blu-Ray), Gungnam Style, and a final run-through of the Artists Alley, where I had another run-in with Marmalade in her Minorin cosplay from Toradora!.  This could only mean one thing: spunkyshrimp had to be in Taiga.  MUST GET THESE TWO TOGETHER!

However, after setting up a search party to find Taiga, 3:00pm hit, and I was dragged away from the convention by my carpool lead, thus ending my AWA 2012 adventures.

ALSO!!!
Because I was granted press credentials for AWA, I want to give back to the con somehow by getting some additional convention coverage through the eyes of cosplayers.  I want to cover aspects such as packing/unpacking, wig styling, make-up, photoshoots, hanging out, costume contest (a huge plus!).  Just wanting to show how AWA is through the eyes of the cosplayer.  Because this is non-paid, I will be very picky at the people I want to feature. I need the cosplays in this feature to be solid and well-made.  Please contact me if you are interested with a link to your recent cosplay photos.  Include some of your prior cosplay experience and just give a short paragraph about the most difficult part of cosplay for you, and how you work through those difficulties.

Well, I'm FINALLY wrapping up on the Otakon photoshoots-- I have one left to work on. I was pretty much drained after the twelve shoots there, then having Anime Festival Orlando to attend the following weekend.  I made myself open for shoots there, but didn't advertise heavily because I already had so much on my plate.  I hope you all enjoyed shooting with me.  But I feel like I held out a bunch on releasing some photos (I only release what I deem my best pictures, and I scrutinize the hell out of them). I may go back and revisit some of the shoots that didn't get 5 or more pictures released. Or, if you like, you can request the unedited, standard resolutions from me to share on your online profiles (Otakon shoots only).

But moving on to bigger and better things: >>>> fav.me/d5dicrt <<<<
